/8 16:59:42 PMI was recently tasked with a piece on building a model of Earth's atmosphere by combining high-resolution solar photographs, gravity-wave theory, and atmospheric model simulations. As well as building a model of the atmosphere to better explain how it behaves, the paper has an impressive list of additional data to support it in this area—including the following from the University of Toronto's Climate Change Research Division:.

It is important to note, as the authors of this paper do acknowledge, there is not a strong support for gravity waves as a signal of planet-surface temperature change; that being said, gravity waves of the order of magnitude from 0.4 to 4 GJ per km2 would be detectable, and would appear very strong to the system of gravity waves and clouds of gas on Earth that we have observed.
